Method 1: Heat Press (Best for Professional Results)

A heat press gives consistent temperature and pressure distribution—ideal for costumes, production work, and projects where quality matters.

What You Need:

  • Heat press with temperature control
  • Teflon or silicon protective sheet
  • Protective pad to insert inside the garment

Settings:

  • Temperature: 160-170°C (320-340°F)
  • Pressure: Medium and evenly distributed
  • Time: 15-22 seconds, depending on fabric

Step-by-Step Application:

  1. Preheat the heat press to 160°C (320°F)
  2. Place the garment on the lower press plate
  3. Insert a protective pad within the garment for thin or sheer fabrics (prevents the garment from gluing itself together)
  4. Position loose rhinestones on fabric face up or place a hotfix rhinestone transfer on the garment, flip over into a compression pad to even out the pressure, and heat from behind.
  5. Cover the motif and all parts of the exposed fabric with a Teflon sheet
  6. Close press—apply heat for 15-22 seconds
  7. Open press, let cool 5 minutes
  8. Wait 24 hours before washing

Pro Tip: Different fabrics need different times. Always test on a scrap piece first.


Application Time Guide by Fabric Type

  • Temperature: 150°C (300°F)—between cotton and wool setting
  • Steam: OFF (no steam vents in the iron sole plate)
  • Time: 15-20 seconds per application

Application Steps:

  1. Insert a protective pad within the garment for thin or sheer fabrics (prevents the garment from gluing itself together)
  2. Position loose rhinestones on fabric face up or place a hotfix rhinestone transfer on the garment, flip over into a compression pad to even out the pressure, and heat from behind.
  3. Cover with a Teflon sheet or cotton cloth (never iron directly on stones or sensitive fabrics)
  4. Press the iron down firmly for 15-20 seconds
  5. Check adhesion—if stones are loose, add 3-4 seconds
  6. Let cool completely before handling

Important: Pressure and temperature aren't as precise with an iron. For professional work, invest in a heat press.
