Gray and silver stones do two different jobs. The transparent grays are smoky crystals that sparkle while reading muted, which is what you want when a clear stone would be too bright and a black stone too heavy. The metallic silvers reflect rather than transmit light, so they read as metal and match hardware.

Black Diamond is the most-stocked shade here, a transparent smoky gray that also anchors our black range. Nightfall is deeper and cooler, a slate gray with more blue in it. Velvet is the warm gray, closer to taupe, and works with browns and neutrals where a cool gray would clash.

On the metallic side, Labrador is a pale silver chrome and the closest thing to a true silver we carry. Comet is brighter with more shift in it. Argent Flare adds a soft brushed sheen rather than a mirror finish. Jet Hematite and Hematite are the dark gunmetals and also sit in our metallic range, with Biarritz reading warmer and more antique.

Black Diamond is also available with AB and shimmer treatments, which work particularly well over a gray base since there is little base color competing with the coating. Grays and silvers are stocked in flatback across MAXIMA Crystals by Preciosa®, LUX European Crystal®, and PriceLess Crystal.

Frequently asked questions

Which rhinestone color is silver?

Labrador is the closest to a true silver, a pale chrome with a mirrored surface. Comet is similar with more shift as the angle changes. If you want silver that sparkles rather than reflects, crystal clear reads as silver-white and throws far more light.

What is a Black Diamond rhinestone?

Black Diamond is a transparent smoky gray, not a black stone despite the name. Light passes through it, so it sparkles the way a clear stone does while reading muted and dark. It is the most-used gray we carry and appears in both our gray and black ranges.

What is the difference between Nightfall and Black Diamond?

Nightfall is deeper and cooler, a slate gray with blue in it. Black Diamond is lighter and more neutral, closer to a warm smoke. Nightfall works against navy and cool palettes. Black Diamond is the more versatile of the two and comes in a wider size range.

Is there a warm gray rhinestone?

Velvet is the warm gray, closer to a taupe than to a true gray. Use it with browns, champagnes, and warm neutrals, where a cool gray like Nightfall would read as a mismatch. Biarritz is the option if you want warmth with a metallic surface.

Which gray works best on gray or silver fabric?

Match the undertone before the depth. Cool silver fabric pairs with Nightfall or Labrador. Warm gray pairs with Velvet or Biarritz. On a fabric that reads neutral, Black Diamond is the safest choice because it leans neither direction strongly.

How do I choose between gray shades?
Order a rhinestone color chart and lay the stones on the fabric under the lighting the piece will be worn in. Gray is the range a screen handles worst, since a monitor's white balance is calibrated on neutral tones and shifts exactly the warm-to-cool lean that separates these shades.
