Blue Rhinestones

Blues look nearly identical on a monitor, and stage lighting changes them again. Color sample cards let you compare depth and undertone in person.

Blue is the largest color range we stock, and it spans further than any other family: from a pale ice blue that reads almost clear to a navy that reads nearly black on stage. Picking the right one is mostly a question of depth, because a blue that looks correct in hand can vanish entirely under a dark stage wash.

Sapphire is the classic true blue and the shade most people picture when they say blue rhinestone. Light Sapphire is its pale counterpart. Capri Blue is brighter and slightly greener, a vivid mid-blue that holds up well from a distance. Montana is the deep navy, the most-stocked shade in the family, and the choice for dark costumes where a brighter blue would look out of place. Cobalt, Dark Indigo, and Smoked Sapphire sit in the same deep range.

On the green end, Aquamarine is a soft ice blue, Aqua Bohemica is warmer and greener, and Blue Zircon leans further still toward our turquoise range. Bermuda Blue is a deep blue-green with a metallic cast. Blue Violet crosses into purple. Neon Blue is opaque rather than transparent, so it carries a flat saturated color that does not dim under lighting.

Aquamarine, Blue Zircon, Bermuda Blue, Aqua Bohemica, and Blue Violet are also available with AB or shimmer treatments. Blues are stocked in flatback across MAXIMA Crystals by Preciosa®, LUX European Crystal®, and PriceLess Crystal.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Sapphire and Capri Blue rhinestones?

Sapphire is a true blue with a slight purple lean. Capri Blue is brighter and leans green, which makes it read more vivid from a distance. Sapphire is the safer match for a royal blue costume. Capri Blue is the better choice when the design needs the blue to stand out rather than blend.

Which blue rhinestone is navy?

Montana is the navy blue in our range and the most-stocked blue we carry. It reads as a deep, slightly muted navy rather than a bright blue. Dark Indigo and Cobalt are the other deep options. If the navy needs to still read as blue from a distance, pair Montana with a lighter shade like Sapphire rather than using Montana alone.

What blue rhinestone works for a light or icy blue costume?

Aquamarine is the standard icy blue and the usual choice for winter and snow-themed designs. Light Sapphire is a slightly truer blue in the same depth. Both are pale enough that they can disappear on white fabric, so many designers mix in a few Sapphire or Capri Blue stones to give the design definition.

Is Blue Zircon blue or turquoise?

It sits on the line, which is why it appears in both ranges. Blue Zircon is a blue-green that reads turquoise next to Sapphire and blue next to a true teal. Aqua Bohemica is similar and slightly warmer. If your palette is built on blues, either works. If it is built on greens, compare against the turquoise range first.

Do blue rhinestones come in AB?

Yes. Aquamarine is available in standard blue and also available coated with an aurora borealis (AB) coating. Blue Zircon, Bermuda Blue, Aqua Bohemica, and Blue Violet have AB or shimmer versions as well. The base stone stays blue and the coating adds an iridescent shift over it.

How do I match a blue rhinestone to blue fabric?

Order a rhinestone color chart and lay the stones on the fabric under the lighting the piece will be worn in. Blue is the range where stage lighting does the most damage: a blue wash makes every blue stone look the same, and a warm gel can push a mid-blue toward gray.
